Yvonne Socolar
Yvonne is wrapping up a PhD in agroecology from UC Berkeley and is excited to join the team as a postdoc this summer. Her research interests lie at the nexus of agriculture and climate resilience, and her doctoral work explores how diversified management practices influence plant-soil-microbe interactions to promote farms’ ecological and economic well-being, particularly in the face of water limitations. She has worked extensively with farmers on California’s Central Coast, doing interviews and developing participatory research projects to better understand dry farming as an agroecological transition, and is thrilled to get to center her postdoc on conversations with farmers. Prior to Berkeley, Yvonne received a BA in Biology from Swarthmore College and an MS in Agriculture, Food and Environment from Tufts University.
