Genoa Starrs
Genoa Starrs is a GIS programmer with the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UCANR) Informatics and GIS Program. Her early career focused on the on-the-ground conservation of agricultural lands in Hawaiʻi with the Hawaii Association of Conservation Districts and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, where she developed a strong foundation in agricultural land stewardship and applied ecology. Originally from California, she returned to get her Master of Forestry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2023. Her research on landscape-scale interactions between grazing and wildfire led to expertise in integrating interdisciplinary data from surveys, fieldwork, and remote sensing to better understand complex socio-ecological challenges in conservation. As part of the UC ANR team, she contributes to projects that leverage mapping, spatial analytics, and ecological data to support sustainable agriculture and natural resources management in California.
